Senior Director of Services and Programs

Position Profile

The Senior Director of Services and Programs (S&P) is responsible for leading their functional areas to organizational success by meeting all services and programs outcomes. This position will ensure alignment through strategic program growth and development. This position is responsible for vision, leadership, direction, and supervision of all assigned aspects of S&P, including immediate and long-range program funding and community partnerships.

Responsibilities:

Leadership

• Provides strategic direction, fosters external relationships, and drives funding development for all programs in their assigned functional area.

• Clearly communicates functional area and organizational strategy and goals while championing the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

• Makes effective decisions to solve problems for both Services & Programs division and GESMN.

• Maximizes opportunities for cross- collaboration between programs, functional areas, and external partners.

• Guides and directs the performance of Directors to ensure Services & Programs and GESMN are attaining desired outcomes.

• Leads and provides technical support for financial and budget planning efforts, and new grant proposal development.

• Develops direct reports and potential successors.

 

Strategic Direction

• Make tactical decisions that impact the division’s strategic direction while balancing attention to the organization’s financials and long/short-term goals.

• Designs and implements functional area goals based on the organizations strategic plan. Collaborates with external partners and other organization leaders to advance the mission and strategic goals of Goodwill-Easter Seals.

• Actively engage in local, state, and national entities to both provide input and to remain current with issues, trends, and opportunities related to our goals and strategies.

• Gathers information and understands issues and their underlying causes to inform problem solving and decision-

making processes.

• Improves and enhances services and programs based on an analysis of outcomes, program scorecard, and stakeholder feedback and recommendations. Implements new service strategies to respond community needs.

 

Financial Management

Responsible for area budgets and other organizational resources using approved financial guidelines and accepted practices, policies and procedures. Financial decisions are made based on mission fit, proactive planning, and the best interests of the larger organization.

• Overall responsibility for funding and related relationships for assigned cost centers.

• Ensures compliance is followed and communication with required parties is maintained as required.

• Oversees the preparation of and finalization of the budget for functional areas.

• Monitors financials and confers with CSPO and finance division as needed.

• Responsible for development of governmental funding strategies and relationships to support our annual and long-term goals related to service delivery and assists in the pursuit of these funds.

• Delivers divisional financial results in accordance with annual and long-term goals through the supervision and direction of staff.

 

Other Duties

• Responsible for being familiar with GESMN’s employee handbook and organizational

policies, as well as where to find the most up-to-date versions on the intranet

• Responsible for learning, understanding, and practicing all safety policies and procedures

set forth related to COVID-19 in the GESMN COVID-19 Preparedness Plan

• Other duties as assigned

 

Education, Experience, and Other Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills

• Demonstrated ability to create and grow services

• Financial and analytical skills; experience with budgeting and funding/grant development

• Outstanding interpersonal, written, and oral presentation skills

• Demonstrated knowledge of management, supervision, and training practices

• Desire and ability to affect change

• Ability to manage the training and mentoring of staff

• Knowledge of program planning and development

• Knowledge of social services systems: WIA, school systems, Department of Labor, Department of Education

 

Ideal Experience/Qualifications

• 5-8 years of relevant experience required

• Bachelor’s degree in related field required
