Seeking a legal counsel to oversee the day-to-day management of our client's Compliance Program, under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer. Will provide legal risk management and counsel to certain departments. The position ensures that management, employees and contractors are in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and contractual requirements that company policies and procedures are being followed and that behavior in the organization meets the company's Standards of Conduct. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with other departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate channels for investigation and resolution. Consults with outside General counsel as needed to resolve legal compliance issues. 
  • Provides counsel and guidance on legal questions and issues arising in company's Clinical Operations, Development and Marketing departments and other legal matters as requested by the General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer. 
  • Provides statutory interpretation on matters involving client's business and clinical operations
  • Reviews contracts
  • Responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures. 
  • Develops and oversees a system for uniform handling of such violatons
  • Identifies potential areas of legal and compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. 
  • Ensure proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required

Skill and Qualifications: ‚Äč
Required Qualifications: 
  • Juris Doctorate Degree
  • Current, unrestricted Minnesota attorney license to practice
  • Minimum of 3 years experience practicing law 
  • Contract Experience; review, negotiate and draft various types of contracts 
Desired Qualifications: 
  • Legal understanding of the healthcare industry its current laws and regulations
  • Legal understanding of the non-profit industry; its current laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of operational, financial, quality assurance and human resources procedures
